Welcome to Aaron Beeken Counselling and Psychotherapy
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally stuck? I offer private, confidential counselling and psychotherapy in Deeping St James, near Peterborough, Stamford, and Spalding. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, or relationship issues, I provide professional support tailored to your needs.

As a fully qualified counsellor, I create a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, explore your thoughts and feelings, and begin to make sense of your experiences. I work with adult individuals from diverse backgrounds and offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on what feels right for you.

My approach is integrative and pluralistic, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies to support your emotional wellbeing. Together, we’ll explore what is really going on for you, build self-understanding, and find new ways forward. Sessions are available both in-person and online.
Taking the first step towards therapy can be difficult but you're not alone and I'm here to help every step of the way.

People That Work With Me
Everyone has a unique story and their own reasons for seeking therapy. I am dedicated to supporting individuals like you on your journey of self-exploration, growth, and personal development.
While each person is unique, many seek therapy to achieve greater psychological balance, emotional regulation, authentic integration, and personal growth.

Talking therapy provides a space to explore the deeper patterns and influences that shape your life. Together, we can uncover what may be holding you back, make sense of your experiences, and discover new ways to move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and a sense of purpose.

Whilst talking therapies can be effective treatment for mental health issues, not everyone has to have a mental health issue or illness to benefit from talking to a professional psychotherapist and counsellor.

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

Professional Standards
I am on an Accredited Register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA), which demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards and delivering a better service.
The Professional Standards Authority is the same authority that oversees the General Medical Council, Nursing & Midwifery Council, and others.
I'm an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and also hold a recent Enhanced DBS check with full clearance to work with young people and vulnerable adults.

A Therapy That Fit's You
I provide talking therapy, and the way I work is best described as pluralistic counselling and psychotherapy.
This means I draw on a range of approaches including Humanistic and Existential, CBT, and Psychodynamic therapies to respond to what is most helpful for you.
Together, we clarify your aims and work collaboratively to support your personal goals and aspirations.
What matters most is that the process feels right for you. We explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and past experiences with care and curiosity.

Counselling
Counselling is an ideal place to work through current difficulties. People who go into counselling are often feeling distressed to varying degrees.
Some people who visit have a mild but disturbing level of anxiety and others will be struggling with stronger physical and psychological symptoms of stress, anxiety or low mood.
Talking things through with a professional listener who is unrelated to anyone you know or your situation, helps bring in a sense of balance and growth at your own pace.
Counselling offers you a secure place where personal evaluation of situations and circumstances can take place, leaving you better able to make positive choices and invoke personal change in your life.

Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is often considered more long-term work dealing with deeper-rooted issues. There are significant changes that take place during successful psychotherapy, which brings unique personal insight enabling positive change.
This type of talking therapy brings you self-understanding and acceptance, which brings the balance of emotional and psychological state.
We may explore how you have approached previous situations. We may identify the patterns that contribute towards how you approach life.
As your sessions progress, you will likely become more conscious towards different parts of yourself that you may previously have been unaware of.
Over time you may be able to establish realistic, choices, options and ways forward for you to consider taking for yourself.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change

-
Do I need to have a mental health diagnosis to come to therapy? No. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit from therapy. People come for all sorts of reasons - to feel better, to explore something difficult, or to make sense of life experiences
-
How long will therapy last? That varies. Some people benefit from a short series of sessions, others from longer-term work. We’ll review together as we go and decide what’s most supportive for you.
-
What happens in a first session? The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask a few questions about what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping for, but there’s no pressure. You’re welcome to ask anything about how I work. It’s important that you feel comfortable and that therapy feels like a good fit.
-
What method of therapy is right for me?It’s not always easy to know what kind of therapy you need, and that’s completely okay. I offer a flexible approach that draws from several well-established methods including person centred counselling, CBT, Gestalt, psychodynamic and existential therapy. Together, we’ll explore what works best for you - whether that’s talking freely, working with practical tools, exploring your past, or making sense of your current experiences.
-
What kinds of issues can therapy help with?Therapy can help with anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, relationships, low self-esteem, life transitions, and many other challenges. It can also be a space for personal growth and reflection.
-
What if I don’t know where to start? That’s very common. You don’t need to have all the words or a clear starting point. Part of the therapy process is gently working together to untangle what’s going on.
-
Is what I say confidential?Yes, what you share is treated with respect and confidentiality. There are some ethical and sometimes legal exceptions, which I explain clearly in the first session, but generally what you say stays between us.
-
Do I need to talk about my past?Only if you want to. For some people, understanding the past helps make sense of what they’re experiencing now. For others, it’s more helpful to focus on the present or future. We’ll go at your pace and decide together what feels most useful.
-
How often do sessions take place? Most people attend weekly, at the same time each week. This helps to build consistency and safety in the process. However, I understand that circumstances vary, and we can discuss what works best for you.
